DCC reaches the other side of the world!
The following email (abridged) was received by Chris Peachey this month from a cavy breeder in Australia!
This is Ashley, I am from Australia, more specifically South Australia.
The Dutch colours that we breed are black, chocolate, chocolate agouti, cinnamon agouti, golden agouti and silver agouti. Our Dutch lines have started off from a mixture of local lines initially, then we imported 2 black dutch from England, one sow and one boar, these were apparently from someone called Kevin Lidbetter from the north part of England, and also a small amount of stock a few years later from New Zealand lines, which gave us the agouti colours.
We currently have a stud of about 25-30 Dutch, and they would have to be one of our favorite breeds especially because of their temperament, especially when compared to the other breed that we have which are Self Whites,and they tend to have nasty tendancies!
The Dutch site that you have set up is fantastic, firstly it looks really professional, so whoever set that up did a wonderful job there, and the pictures are absolutely mindblowing, I can't say that I have ever seen anything that comes close to achieving the standard of those that are in the Photo Gallery area of your site.
Actually here in Australia our standard is a little different to yours, as we still can show Dutch with dark nails and our points are layed out a little differently to yours. Though personally just looking at your animals shows me that our general standard (in Australia) is still a long way behind yours.
